Wairarapa Biodiversity Hui
April 11 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pmFree
The Wairarapa Pūkaha to Kawakawa Alliance (P2K) invite you to our annual Wairarapa Biodiversity Hui: Kei te mahi tātou mō te taiao | Communities working together for nature.
The Hui is a great opportunity for anyone who is involved or interested in environmental projects in the Wairarapa to network, learn, share ideas and find ways we can work together to achieve our vision of thriving native biodiversity, waterways to be proud of and prosperous communities.
We are honored to have Charles Daugherty as Keynote Speaker. Charles has a PhD in Zoology and spent 34 years at Victoria University as Head of Biological Sciences and Professor of Ecology. He has worked with the Wildlife Service, Department of Conservation, and WWF New Zealand to help secure the future of tuatara, kiwi and other natural treasures.
Charles is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand and an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for Services to Conservation and Biology. He has served as a Trustee of WWF-NZ, the Predator Free New Zealand Trust, and Zealandia and continues his conservation activities in retirement as Chair of the Hawke’s Bay Biodiversity Trust and a Director of Zero Invasive Predators (ZIP).
Esther Dijkstra will share P2K’s work and current projects and opportunities in the Wairarapa. There will be plenty of opportunities for discussion, sharing and networking.
2020-2030 is the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration and together we can contribute to this global movement by restoring our special part of the world for future generations.
