Scion and Wairarapa Farm Forestry Association ‘Forest Flows’ workshop

August 25, 2021

Scion will hold a Forest Flows workshop on 25th August in Masterton to which you are invited. Time: Afternoon (TBC)

We want to know:

  • what you think about water, land and trees – and their interconnections
  • what questions you have about planning for a climate-change affected future?

With the changing climate and land use options, New Zealanders want to know that we have:

  • a reliable water supply
  • healthy rivers and streams
  • access to water for recreation
  • protected cultural values.

Understanding how water flows through the land, including planted forests is essential to make the best use of land and water while maintaining environmental health. New research is needed to replace outdated models and understand the complex processes of how water is distributed, used and circulated in forested catchments.

From this discussion and our research, we will create a baseline of information for hydrological modelling of a local catchment, which will be shared with participants interested in catchment management.

If you have any questions, or are keen to attend, please contact Grace Villamor at Scion: Grace.Villamor@scionresearch.com
